Wedding Wednesday: The Venue Search Begins...
I finally feel like Mike and I have started making progress on planning! Granted, it is limited but progress has begun! We have picked a few dates and have started contacting locations!
It was hard to figure out how a location fits into our budget until we contacted several locations. There seems to be two major ways you are charged for your reception and it is dependent upon how catering works.
1 - Rental fee and catering - Locations have a rental fee just to use their facility and then there is a separate fee per head for catering. At some locations, the catering fee may be a smaller price if they have a partnership with the venue.
2 - Price Per Head - Some locations have their own built-in caterers that you have to use. In those locations, you may not have a location rental fee because they build that price it into the catering. The “per person” price is more expensive at these locations, but you do not have the few thousand dollar fee for the venue.
We are looking at locations that use both of these methods as we don’t really have a preference.
What is on my must-have list for the venue? Honestly, not much. I know I want something with a little personality, not just a ballroom with 4 walls. I also do not want a barn. There are so many barns!!! Just not into the country style wedding though.
