Hi there.

Welcome to my blog. I document all my adventures, big and small. Enjoy your Adventure!

Wedding Wednesday: Working on the Little Things

Wedding Wednesday: Working on the Little Things

Mike and I are in a unique situation. With us moving in a few months, that location may affect where we decide to have our wedding. Because of this, some of the major planning pieces (Location, Date, Venue, Season) are not able to be decided as of now.

So, as a bride, what do you do? You are itching to get started working on your big party, so what can you take care of without knowing these larger details?

  • Registry - Are you planning on registering at some stores? Looking into a honeymoon fund? Now is the time to do your research on this! Even if you are not making the lists yet, you can start thinking about your house(s) and what you need in them! Make a list of what you want, or, do what Mike and I have done, make a private Amazon registry to start collecting ideas!

  • Signing up for Wedding Sites/Apps - Most of these ask you for a date and location, but just throw in some numbers for now (mine all have different dates, so our countdowns are all over the place). I have signed up for the Knot and Wedding Wire; I plan on trying both out for a while to see which one I like and then use that site to set up our wedding site.

  • Dresses - Mike has been very busy with, ya know, looking for a job while having a full time job and setting us up for our lives (!), so I have been taking care of the wedding things that pertain more to me, like my dress! As someone who has no fashion sense (in my opinion) and does not know designer names, I thought picking out a dress would be such a tedious task. Look for my post next week to find out how surprisingly easy I found it!!

  • Theme - As you have seen in previous posts, we figured the theme of our wedding would be “Us”, as we are the ones getting married. I was not on the lookout for anything specific and just had some odds and ends thrown in a Pinterest board that I enjoy. My 2 suggestions- keep saving reception ideas you enjoy and keep talking to those you trust about these ideas. You never know how a theme may just suddenly beat you in the head!

  • Colors - Honestly, this is the one I have had the most difficulty with. I tasked myself last week with setting up a color pinterest board of idea one evening and, well, it is quite a mess to be frank. We know we want some kind of blue, so I just keep pinning pictures and looking at palates and hope that I find something that stands out to me. You may want to wait on this until you know what season, but it cannot hurt to start looking up palates to see what you like.

So, this is where our planning currently sits. Having some of this done I think will help us hit the ground running when we do know the major details.

Is there anything else you think I should be working on? Do you have a preference on a wedding website? What was your wedding theme/colors? I love hearing ideas!
